Frank Guttman

August 31, 1935 — December 25, 2025

Dr. Frank K. Guttman passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025.

Born in 1935, Frank attended Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Illinois, and then completed a degree in dentistry at the University of Marquette, Wisconsin. Shortly after graduation, Frank answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Air Force as a dentist stationed in Minot, North Dakota.

It was in Minot that Frank met the love of his life, JudAnn Schmidt. They were married on April 11, 1964, beginning of a memorable lifelong journey together of 62 years. Frank and JudAnn eventually made their home in Madison, Wisconsin, where Frank established a dental practice in Monona, Wisconsin. That practice would thrive for 44 years.

Frank truly loved and found much pride in being a dentist. He held deep respect for his profession and cared greatly for his patients, his colleagues, and the many people who worked alongside him throughout his career.

Beyond his many professional accomplishments, Frank will be remembered for his genuine kindness, passion for conversation, no matter the topic, his gift to listen with sincerity, and for his easy and likable sense of humor. He treasured time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank had a remarkable way of showing interest in everyone he met, often beginning a conversation by asking about others and celebrating their successes and accomplishments.

An avid Wisconsin sports fan, Frank faithfully cheered on the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers. But most of all, he loved cheering on his family and friends.

Frank was proceeded in death by his parents, Frank and Maria Guttman and infant son Andrew Schmidt Guttman. He is survived by his beloved wife, JudAnn; his son, Frank Guttman and wife, Jodi; his daughter, Mary Pat (Maria) Griffin; his grandchildren: Dalton and wife, Andrea; Daniel, Arienne and husband, Jared; and Tristan; and his great-grandchildren, Perseus, Leon, and Caius.

He is also survived by countless friends and relatives including Pat J. Schmidt, Jane Torgerson, Jack and Marilyn Annis, Jeff and Sue Bergey, and Jackie and Tom Lutmer.

A memorial service for Frank will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Werner Harmsen Funeral Home in Cambria at 11 a.m. A memorial gathering will take place prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
