Gladys Jansma, age 90, of Waupun; loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025 into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Gladys was born December 11, 1934, the daughter of Herman and Jennie Vande Streek Hopp. On March 6, 1953 she married Louis Jansma. Gladys was a pillar of her community and an active member of Emmanuel Waupun, where her compassion and generous spirit shone brightly as a member of the women's aid group. Her career was a testament to her relentless work ethic—she contributed tirelessly at a shoe factory in Waupun, saving diligently to provide her family with a car and furniture while Louis served in the war. Gladys also worked in the laundry room of the local hospital and brought her culinary skills to life as a cook at the nursing home in Waupun, always serving with a smile and a caring heart. Family was the cornerstone of her life. She dedicated herself to "serving God by serving families," and loved nothing more than vacationing at lakes with her family and friends. She also created beautiful cross-stitch gifts for her children and grandchildren. Gardening brought her immense joy, and she found delight in watching her grandchildren excel in their sports, cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm.
Her soul resonated with the melodies of Southern Gospel music, which accompanied her through many cherished moments.
Gladys is survived by her two sons: Keith (Cheri) Jansma and Jeffrey (Renee) Jansma; seven grandchildren: Kyle (Katie) Jansma, Paul Jansma, Bethany (Russ) Bahr, Kevin (Megan) Jansma, Jillian (Andy) Terrell, Joshua Jansma, and Presley Jansma; and four great-grandchildren: Shaun, Jaxon and Emberlyn Bahr, and Shayna Zollman.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis in 2021; and her sisters: Mildred Wierenga and Lillian Lont, and brother, Milton Hopp.
