Glendon Kamphuis

On May 28th, 2023 Glendon Wayne Kamphuis, age 85, said goodbye to his earthly life and gained his entrance into heaven.  Glen passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife Darlene.  

Glen was born May 3, 1938, the son of Garret J. and Minnie Schouten Kamphuis. Glen loved life. He had such a sense of humor and would find laughter in the little things. His smile was contagious and he always had a positive attitude. He spent years pulling his team of horses and told many stories of his days growing up on his family farm while tilling with the horses that he grew up working with. Glen loved his family with his every being.  He would not miss any of their many activities such as ballgames, hockey matches, concerts, and many, many horse pulls. Glen and Darlene would spend hours watching the Brewers and the Packers. When their favorite sports team weren’t playing they would take a leisurely ride around the countryside checking out the local farmer’s crops, and eventually landing up at Culver’s or McDonalds for their favorite meal of chicken strips and ice cream. Glen was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon and served as a deacon.

Glen will be greatly missed by his wife, Darlene, of 59 years; his children: Steve Kamphuis, Renae (Bill) Lind, Kevin (Lisa) Kamphuis, Sherri (Chris) Buescher, Doug (Kim) Kamphuis, and Tim (Nicole) Kamphuis; grandchildren: Derrek (Valerie) Kamphuis, Darren (Rachel) Kamphuis, Emilie (Seth) Knox, Kellie Kamphuis, Anna, Mason, and Nariah Lind, Jacob Kamphuis, McKaylie, Chloe, and Cully Buescher, and Kaylee and MacKenzie Rahn; great-grandchildren: Isabella Kamphuis, Adelynn Knox, and baby boy Kamphuis; siblings: Marilyn Kamphuis and Jim (Charlene) Kamphuis; and sister-in-law, Joannie Kamphuis.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Garrett and Minnie Kamphuis; parents-in-law, Roger and Mable Kastein; brother, Jerome Kamphuis, and  brother-in-law Dale Kastein.

Funeral services for Glen Kamphuis will be held Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon with Pastor Gwen Loomans officiating. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Thursday evening at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
