Obituary

Glenn Gordon Bennett, age 80, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on April 16, 2016.

Visitation for Glenn will be on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 311 W. Mackie St., Beaver Dam with Rev. Mark Jensen officiating. American Legion Post 146 is invited for a walk-through to pay their respects at 10:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens in the Town of Trenton with graveside military honors.

Glenn was born in Beaver Dam to Raymond and Sarah (Randall) Bennett on July 24, , 1935. He was a lifelong resident of Beaver Dam, graduating in 1953. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served from 1954-57. A month later he met the love of his life, Lois Ann Bauer. They married in 1959 and enjoyed their life together for the next 56 years. During these years, they created a family, attended First Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher for 57 years, and participated in many community events. Glenn was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 146, served in the Honor Guard for several years, delivered for Meals on Wheels for 17 years, and volunteered at Hillside Manor. He worked at MetalFab for almost 40 years.

Glenn loved gardening and shucking "oodles" of hickory nuts, both of which he shared with family, neighbors and friends. He was also an avid sports fan. He played softball for 35 years, bowled, and participated in the church dart league. He was a spectator of almost all professional sports, Wisconsin teams, and especially loved watching his grandchildren play sports and participating in their activities!

Glenn is survived by his wife, Lois Bennett of Beaver Dam; daughters Lori (Jeff Feinblatt) of Madison, Juli (Tony) Wagner of Beaver Dam, Diane (John) Wille of Burnett Corners, and Brenda Bennett (Andrew) Price of Madison; grandchildren Abbie Wagner, Ali (Blake) Strahota, Jake Wille (special friend Samantha Clark), Bryn Bennett-Feinblatt, and Ethan and Erin Price; great-grandson Jayden Strahota; sisters-in-law Mary Lou Bennett, Marian Bennett Kohl, Charmaine Bennett; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ray, Donald, Gerald, Herbert, Orin, Oris, Wayne; sisters Genevieve, Winifred, Bernice; in-laws Louis and Bernice Bauer, and brother-in-law Lewis "Bud" Bauer.

Memorials may be directed to First Ev. Lutheran Church or Hillside Hospice for a Hospice Home.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hillside Hospice, especially Lisa and Shelley for their loving care.
