Glenwood O. Zick, age 92 of Markesan, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Fountainview in Ripon where he was a resident for the past 8 months.
Visitation for Glenwood will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Manchester with Rev. Michael Plagenz officiating. Glenwood will be laid to rest at Phelps Cemetery next to his wife of 52 years and loving daughter.
Glenwood was born on May 7, 1924 to Otto and Elizabeth (Haas) Zick on their family farm near Manchester. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manchester, where he was baptized on July 20, 1924, confirmed on April 10, 1938 and married to the love of his life, Eleanor Crossman, on October 13, 1945. They were married for 52 years until her passing in March of 1997.
Glenwood farmed most of his life near Markesan and worked at Speed Queen for many years. He truly loved hunting, fishing, cutting wood, gardening and visiting with his kids and grandkids.
Glenwood is survived by his five sons, Brent (Doreen), Terry (Beverly), Brian, Tom (Nina), all of Markesan and Kelly of Ripon; three daughters, Barbara Zick of West Bend, Suellen (Rick) Johnson and Malory; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; daughter, Linda; grandson, Ronald Hess; great-granddaughter, Emily Panten; son-in-law, Gahl Frei; brothers, Wilbur and Lavern Zick; sisters, Florence Radtke, Anita Zick and Verona Dugenske; and his parents.
