Gloria was born in Cedar Grove, WI on August 2, 1928, the daughter of Daniel and Matilda "Tillie" Holle. She graduated from Sheboygan High School, and on June 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to Clayton J. Purvis in Mauston, WI. She worked for many years at Green Giant and later retired from Shopko. Gloria was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, where she helped organize a group that played BINGO in area nursing homes. She also enjoyed being a part of the Ladies Aid, Prayer Chain, and Quilters Group at church. Gloria was always there to help anyone in need and volunteed for Meals on Wheels. Along with her husband Clayton, Gloria enjoyed traveling to 49 out of the 50 states. She treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her son, Clyde Purvis of Columbus; her daughters, Cindi (Chuck) Ritter of Stoughton and Sue (Cliff) Ferguson of Beaver Dam; her grandchildren, Chad (Heather Ballweg) Purvis, Christopher (Tiffany) Purvis, Nicole (Nathan) Delmore and John Skinner; and her great-grandchildren, Ella, Calan, Isabell and Cooper James Purvis, Nathan Allen, Nyellie and Nadilin Delmore. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton in 1999; her sister; three brothers, and other relatives.

A Funeral Service for Gloria will take place on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd in Beaver Dam at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Castro officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home, beginning at 3:00 p.m. A luncheon will be held following the service at the funeral home. Gloria will be laid to rest next to her husband on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Memory Gardens, in the Town of Trenton, Dodge County. Memorials may be directed to Dodge County Food Pantry, PAVE or Dodge County Humane Society.
