Gloria F. Tamminga, age 57 of Randolph, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Gloria was born on September 5, 1955 in Beaver Dam to Charles R. and Grace (nee Jansma) Wiersma. On July 6, 1974, she was united in marriage to Tom Tamminga at First Reformed Church in Friesland. She worked as the Human Resource Manager at Jung Seed Co. in Randolph and enjoyed helping people. Gloria loved reading, family walks, cooking, and gardening. She made her family a priority spending time with them. She was very loving and supportive to all and will be dearly missed.
Gloria is survived by her husband Tom of Randolph; her children, Melissa (Dan) Lamers of Beaver Dam, Ted R Tamminga of Randolph; siblings, Gladys (Joel) Hansma of CA, Ronald Wiersma of VA, Theresa DeVries of Randolph, George (Linda) Wiersma of Beaver Dam, Lillian (Bill) Kuiper of IL, Eldon (Kathy Brozowski) Wiersma of Cambria; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary (Pat) Dunlap of VA, Cheryl (Dale) Stone of Beaver Dam, and Randy (Marcia) Tamminga of IL. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Grace Wiersma, father and mother-in-law Ted and Alice (nee Meekma) Tamminga, brother-in-law Harris DeVries and other relatives.
A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Gloria will be on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Church-United Methodist, 308 Oneida St. in Beaver Dam with Rev. Jeffrey Nicholas officiating. A Memorial Gathering will also be held on Saturday at the Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Service at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow the Service at the Church. Private family burial will take place at Randolph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society.
