Gwendolyn Rae (Petersen) Pourier was born in Burke, South Dakota on August 8, 1941. She passed away on October 27, 2025, in Mayville, Wisconsin while living at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living. The love and care they provided made Mom's last years joyful. We will forever be grateful.

Mom married Emery Pourier on April 7, 1964, her husband of 31 years. They built their lives in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, raising three wonderful children, and the family moved to Madison, Wisconsin in 1978. In Madison she worked in the newspaper industry and the bovine reproduction industry.

Mom moved to California in 2000 to be with her mom and sisters. She retired while working for the City of San Marcos, California. In 2015, mom moved to Clovis, California to be closer to her daughter, Nadine. When mom needed more help due to her dementia illness, she moved to Mayville, Wisconsin to be near her other daughter, Thada. She prayed everyday that no one in her family would get the horrible disease of dementia. Fortunately, she continued to sing and dance, create friendships, and stayed loud and sassy.

Emery, her husband, passed away in 1995. Her favorite son, Michael, passed away in 2017. She reunited in heaven with many other loved family members including her parents and sister, Jackie.

She continued to love her daughters until the end of her life: Nadine Pourier Blumenshine (Steve) and Thada Clements (Paul).

Her legacy will continue with her most precious joys and loves, her grandchildren: Dixie Blumenshine, Paige Butterbrodt (Ben), Gemma Blumenshine (fiance Savanna), Amethyst Blumenshine, and Aleya Clements.

A private memorial and burial will take place on Friday, November 14.
