Obituary

Harlan L. Rupnow, age 80 of Reeseville, died with dignity on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at his family home and farm.

Harlan was born to Leonard and Olga (nee Sabatke) Rupnow on December 28, 1927 at his family's home in Horicon. He served in Army overseas from April 24, 1946 until April 30, 1947. He received a World War II Victory medal and an Army Occupation medal. In his heart, he was a true farmer. On June 26, 1971 he married his wife of over 36 years, Janet Meyer at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. Harlan enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage and other card games, finding great deals at auctions, and spending time with his family. He had a sweet tooth and liked stopping for a bite to eat at area restaurants. Harlan was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reeseville.

Harlan is survived by his wife Janet; his daughters Marie (Steve) Rechek of Fox Lake and Elaine (Larry) DeBlare of Beaver Dam; his sons Shannon (Amy) Rupnow of Reeseville and Clayton Rupnow of Beaver Dam; two granddaughters, Isabelle and Michaela Rupnow, along with another soon-to-be-born grandchild; one sister Alice Dohmann of Lowell; and his mother-in-law, Doris Meyer of Juneau. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Adeline Reiher, one sister-in-law, three brother-in-laws, and his father-in-law Clarence Meyer.

A Funeral Service for Harlan will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, N2296 Cty I, Reeseville, with Rev. Matthew Martin officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, May 2, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Lowell Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church's Anniversary Fund.
