Harley Raymond Leitzke, of Green Lake and formerly of Markesan, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the age of 85 at the Barrett House in Markesan with family by his side.
Harley was born on November 28, 1934, in Hustisford, WI, the son of Raymond and Arvedah (Kuehl) Leitzke. He attended Bethany Lutheran Grade School and was a graduate of Hustisford High School. After high school, he went to work for General Telephone and then served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Harley married Mary Loew on January 4, 1958 in Hartford, WI. After his military service, he returned to work for General Telephone until he retired after 36 years. He then studied real estate and in 1989, he established his own company, Leitzke Realty.
Harley loved sports, especially baseball, football and golf. Many of his younger years were spent on the baseball field and his passion in later years was golfing. Making a hole in one at Tuscumbia Golf Course was a proud moment for Harley. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, shelling hickory nuts, chopping wood, working outside and reminiscing about his time in Germany.
Harley is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Cheryl (Daniel) Schultz; two grandchildren, Zachary Schultz and Elizabeth (fiancé Shawn Sabatke) Schultz; son-in-law, Randal Long; sister-in-law, Janet Voigt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Harley was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Michelle Long; sister, Marilyn Roeseler; brothers-in-law, Maynard Roeseler, Donald Voigt, and James Doubleday; sister-in-law, Shirley Doubleday and other relatives.
Harley's family appreciates the compassionate care given to him at the Markesan Barrett House and through Agnesian Healthcare Hospice Hope.
Due to COVID-19, there will be no funeral service at this time.
