Harold W. Hartgerink, 87, of Waupun, died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Marvin’s Manor in Brandon where he resided for a short time.




Harold was born March 3, 1927, the son of Henry and Helena Kastein Hartgerink. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952 where he operated heavy equipment. On July 6, 1951 he married Mary Van Loo in Brandon. The couple lived most of their married life in Waupun where they raised their family. Harold was employed by the State of Wisconsin prison system as a Correctional Officer where he retired in 1984. He was a member of First Reformed Church in Waupun. He led an active life where he coached little league. He enjoyed being Santa Claus to many Waupun children for many years, as well as enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, golfing, and especially traveling to Texas with his wife. He also loved helping family and friends, especially on the farm.

Harold is survived by his wife, Mary, of 63 years; two sons: Jeff (Michelle) Hartgerink of Montana and Fred (Nikki) Hartgerink of Minnesota; a daughter, Kimberly (Matthew) Zuehlke of Coloma; eight grandchildren: Amanda Hartgerink, Regen Zemke, Brittney, Danielle, Alicia, and Olivia Zuehlke, Frank Lopez, and Julia Floor; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd (Helen) Hartgerink of Waupun; a sister, Ardis Redeker of Brandon; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Hartgerink of Brandon.

Harold was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Milton; and a sister, Kathryn Henkes.





Visitation:


Friends and relatives may call on the family on Sunday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.



Services:


Funeral services for Harold W. Hartgerink will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 at 11 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Bob James officiating.
