Herbert "Herbie" H. Sturm, age 92 of Beaver Dam, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Herbert was born on September 18, 1917 in the Town of Williamson in Dodge County to John and Anna (nee Froehlich) Sturm. On April 10, 1943 he was united in marriage to Joy Maxine Little in Dodge County. He worked at Monarch Range for over 41 years and also owned and operated Sturm's Repair in Beaver Dam from 1950 until 2008. Herbert loved camping and fishing. In his earlier years, he spent a lot of time stock car racing and also had a passion for horses. He was a man that always had deep love for his family. Herbert would tell his children stories and loved to give his family nicknames. The time he was able to spend with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren gave him an abundance of joy. Herbert was also a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam.

Herbert is survived by his children, Elizabeth Fuller of Madison, Diane (Marvin) Teletzke, Nancy (John) Pavelka, Gloria (Jeff) Hintz, Christine (Dan Ries) Kutzke, Daniel Sturm all of Beaver Dam; 16 grandchildren, James Kleindl, John (Jamie) Kleindl, Richard (Pat) Kleindl,David Kleindl, Duane (Donna) Fuller, Joy (Rick) Webb, Catherine (Joe) Watson, Patricia Fuller, Anthony (Laura Larson) Pavelka, Michael Pavelka, William (Amy) Pavelka, Anna Schmidt, Alicia Kutzke, Aaron Kutzke, Adam Kutzke, Andrea Kutzke; great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is further survived a special friend, Dorothy Frederick and her son Roger of Oak Grove; sister and brothers, Alice "Peg" Gerbitz of Beaver Dam, Albert Sturm of California, Norbert (Kathy) Sturm of Sun Prairie, Jerome (Mary) Sturm of Waunakee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joy in 1982, a daughter Jill Sturm in 1988, two granddaughters, Sylvia Pavelka and Mary Kleindl; great-granddaughter Jada Keyes; son-in-law Richard Kleindl; two sisters, Ruth Mueller and Jane Fuecht; brother-in-law Harold Gerbitz; sister-in-law Rosetta Sturm and other relatives.

A Funeral Service for Herbert will held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be on Friday, May 7, 2010 from 4 -8 p.m. at the Funeral Home and also on Saturday, May 8, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Service at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam and a luncheon will immediately follow back at the Funeral Home.
