Hilda Schwandt, age 85 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Larson House in Columbus.
Hilda was born on March 12, 1927 north of Leipsig to Anton and Louise (nee Hartl) Meyer. On September 28, 1946 she was united in marriage to Richard H. Schwandt at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. Hilda worked as the head a.m. cook at Wayland Academy during the early 1970's. She enjoyed collecting buttons and baking maldorcians. Her house became the drop-off/pick-up place for Don and Rita. The family enjoyed stopping when in town for "potty breaks", and snacks including cookies and day old sweet rolls.
Hilda is survived by her children; Don R. Schwandt of Minnesota Junction, Rita (Douglas) Lambert of Columbus; grandchildren, Levi (Jessica) Lambert of Baraboo, Sarah (Joseph) Wiersma of Columbus; great-grandchildren; Brent and Garrett Lambert; a sister Mary (Fred) Stange of Juneau and a sister-in-law Inez Hemling of Beaver Dam. She is further survived by other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard in 1997, two daughters Lorraine Paul in 1972, Marlene Smith in 1996, four brothers, two sisters and other relatives.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Hilda will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St. in Beaver Dam with Fr. Mike Erwin as celebrant. Visitation will also take place on Thursday at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Beaver Dam and a luncheon will follow back at Cornerstone.
