Obituary
Irene A. Exner, age 87 of Beaver Dam, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at her home.
Irene was born on June 21, 1925 in Somerset, PA to James and Agnes (nee Flynn) Decker. Irene was united in marriage to Donald L. Exner on August 20, 1949 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Racine. Irene worked for the I.R.S. in Washington D.C. and Los Angeles as a case assigner. In her earlier years she enjoyed and taught tap dancing. She was a great cook and enjoyed golfing and watching the Green Bay Packers. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Hospital Auxiliary and enjoyed playing bridge for over 50 years. Irene devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Irene is survived by her husband Donald "Don" Exner of Beaver Dam; Judy (David) Walseth of Vancouver, WA, Jim (Peg) Exner of Beaver Dam, Michael (Jeanne) Exner of Atlanta, GA, John (Jodeen) Exner of Janesville, Meg Sekel of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Megan (Lainie) Decker, John (Treasa) Walseth, Mark Walseth, Dan Exner, Joe Exner, Matthew, Maggie and Anna Exner, Morgan and Eric Exner and Mary Claire Sekel; great-grandchildren, Adine and Maria Decker and Morelle Walseth. She is further survived by a step-sister, Betty (Tom) Wade of California and a brother-in-law, Albert (Norma) Exner of Waukesha along with nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Mary Beth and a sister Anna Marion.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Irene will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St. in Beaver Dam with Fr. Charles Scheuerell as celebrant. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. There will also be visitation on Saturday at the Church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. A luncheon will immediately follow the Mass at Beaver Dam Country Club. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam.
