Irene Stellmacher was called from this life to her heavenly home on Monday, July 28, 2025 at the age of 101 & 7 months.
Visitation for Irene will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Terrace Shores Ev. Free Church, W3278 Co Rd K, Markesan. Burial will be at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
Irene was born on December 28, 1923, in the Town of Manchester, the daughter of Jacob and Rosa Miller. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School. On August 8, 1945, Irene married Forrest (Pete) Stellmacher. They farmed side by side while raising 6 children. Upon retirement from farming, they moved to Markesan in 1981.
Irene was a member of Terrace Shores Church, where she served as a deaconess. She was a diligent student of God's word and was involved in numerous bible studies over the years. In her retirement years she enjoyed reading, crocheting, and puzzle making, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Her home was always open to family and friends for many years where she was fortunate to stay until she was 99 years old. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her, and she was so happy when they visited.
Irene is survived by her daughter Nancy (Alan) Zastrow, sons Steven (Nancy) Stellmacher, Wayne (Barbara) Stellmacher, and daughter Sandee (Rick) Grams, sons-in-law Russell Zastrow and Freddie Wampler. Grandchildren Amy (Brian) Pierstorff, Lisa Zabler, Angela Nasser, Eric (Deanna) Wampler, Jessica (Andrew) Vis, Peter (Lyndsey) Zastrow, Lucas (Gina) Stellmacher, Jenna (Collin) Taylor, Sarah Borgen, Brittany (Kurt) Moeller, Brad (Emily) Stellmacher, Lindsay (Jonathan) Wiese, Kaitlin (Mike) Posthuma, and Jordan (Morgan) Grams, 31 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest, in 1988, daughters, Diane Zastrow and Joyce Wampler and numerous other relatives.
