Irvin "Woody" Charles Woodruff, age 88, passed away September 8, 2026.
Irvin was born December 3, 1937, in Baraboo, WI, the son of Jay and Edna (Johnson) Woodruff. Irvin served his country and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He grew up in Baraboo, and his parents moved to Ladysmith. He met his wife, Linda, in Beloit. They were married on September 27, 1969 in Rockford, IL and lived in Oak Grove for many years. For 44 years, Irvin was an owner/operator leased to Diamond Transportation, an over-the-road trucking company based in Racine. He hauled farm equipment to military equipment all across the United States and even Canada. Every summer our Dad took us for 2 weeks and sometimes longer on the road with him. This way we each got our one-on-one time with him. After we left home mom and dad got to travel on the road together. Devoted to his children and grandchildren, he planned routes around their events whenever possible and made every effort to be there for them.
Irvin is survived by his wife, Linda Woodruff; their two children, Ervin (Deanna) Woodruff and Alyce (Tim) Paye; seven grandchildren: Alyshia Woodruff, Kayla Woodruff, Meagan (Josh) Kopplin, Jasper Woodruff, MacKenzie Foster, Alexis (Dalton) Kudick, and Haley Paye; eleven great-grandchildren: Parker Ruppert, Elijah Woodruff, Jazalyn Ruppert, Max Ruppert, Kelle Kline, Mason Pribbenow, Olivia Lmar, Bently Kopplin, Sophia Foster, Elizabeth Neuman, and Isabelle Neuman; his sister, Joy Gillespie; sisters-in-law: Pam Woodruff and Marda Enyart; his brother-in-law, Steve Plato; and other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Irvin was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Edna Woodruff; his granddaughter, Madison Foster; in-laws, Jasper (Alice) Boken; his sisters: Georgia (Frank) Guerra, Joyce Plato, Marlene Smith, and Lou (Marlow) Johnson; his brother, Joe Woodruff; his brother-in-law, Denzil Enyart; and his sisters-in-law: Donna (Gene) Turner, Wanda (Joe) Becker, and Claudine (Howard) Sawallisch.
