Jack D. Schmidt, age 74, of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Jack was born on January 29, 1934 in the Township of Trenton. He graduated from Fox Lake High School in 1952 and later served his country in the United States Navy stationed aboard the U.S.S. Toledo in the South Pacific. Jack lived in Beaver Dam for over 50 years and worked for the City of Beaver Dam, Department of Parks and Recreation. He was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 in Beaver Dam, Beaver Dam Senior Center, Conservation Club, Dodge County Humane Society and Marsh Haven. Jack loved hunting, specifically turkey hunting. He enjoyed deer hunting, trapshooting, spending time near Beaver Dam Lake and participating in many outdoor activities. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing pool at the Beaver Dam Senior Center and volunteering at several charitable organizations.

Jack is survived by his wife Frances of Beaver Dam and one sister in law, Verliss Winnie of Beaver Dam. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jack is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Gordon.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 3:30p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam with Rev. Dr. Mark Molldrem officiating. Visitation will also take place on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the funeral home from 1:00p.m. until the time of Service. Members of John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 are invited to meet at the funeral home at 2:00p.m. on Saturday to pay their respects. A luncheon will follow immediately after the Memorial Service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date as St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam with graveside military honors provided by John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 of Beaver Dam.
