Obituary
Jack Budreau, age 82 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau.
Jack was born on January 27th, 1931 in Boulder Junction, WI. He was the son of Emil and Alice (nee Atkins) Budreau. He worked many odd jobs growing up but started in the grocery business in his teens. After he graduated from Woodruff High School, he married Gloria J. Radue in 1950. They would eventually have 5 children. Jack and Gloria spent their years together living in the north woods area of Boulder Junction, Merrill, and Rhinelander. Gloria passed away in 2004 of cancer.
After Jack attended Business College, he worked his way up from a stock boy in Red Owl grocery stores to management until he became owner of his own Roundy's stores. Jack moved to Mayville WI with his new wife Bernadine and purchased Mayville Food Lane in 1971, and sold it in 1982. They moved back to Merrill and bought the Merrill View Motel, and later moved to Fox Lake WI, where they purchased a Mini Mart. Jack later began working for Gilmore's Piggly-Wiggly of Beaver Dam, where it became his last employment. Jack will always be remembered as a respected business man.
He was a member of the Lions Club and a Chamber of Commerce member and would eventually become president for both organizations. Jack was voted Business Man of the Year in Mayville in 1973 and received numerous awards and praise for his community involvement. He believed it was very important to give back to his community.
Jack is survived by his 5 loving children, Christine Budreau of Beaver Dam, WI, Michael Budreau of Rhinelander, WI, Brian Budreau of Fond du Lac, WI, Jeff Budreau of Oshkosh, WI, and Kay Budreau Schmidt of Beaver Dam, WI; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Grivicich of Naples, FL, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; two wives; two brothers; one sister; and son, Steven Jack.
A funeral service for Jack will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 5:30 PM at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., in Beaver Dam. Visitation will take place from 2:30 PM until the start of the service.
Interment will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Merrill Memorial Park, 201 Memorial Dr., in Merrill, WI. Memorials are preferred to the family.
