Jane Ruth Zanto, age 82 of Markesan, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Markesan Resident Home in Markesan, WI.
Jane was born on August 16, 1930 in the Township of Green Lake, the daughter of Wilbur and Ruth Sommers Fox. On June 26, 1965, she married Clarence Zanto in Markesan. He preceded her in death in 1981. She was a member of the Markesan United Methodist Church.
Jane received nursing degrees from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Oshkosh, WI and Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, and a Master of Science degree from the University of Colorado. She worked at mercy Hospital, Ripon Hospital, University Hospitals-Cleveland, Markesan Medical Center, Riverdale manor and the Waupun Christian Home. She also taught at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI and Marian College, Fond du Lac, WI.
Jane is survived by five brothers, James (Gloria) Fox, Wayne (Marilyn) Fox, Ralph (Patricia) Fox, William (Beverly) Fox and Wilbur "JR" (Valerie) Fox; one sister, Mary (Art) Ehlert; nieces; nephews; three step-children, Christine (Gary) Dretske, David (Carol) Zanto, and Dennis (Karen) Zanto; step-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two nephews.
A Memorial Service for Jane will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan with Rev. Paul Yoder officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at Cornerstone, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Phelps Cemetery, Town of Green Lake, followed by a luncheon, which will be served at Markesan United Methodist Church, 74 E. Catherine St., Markesan.
