Obituary

Janet (Jan) Mae Klawitter (90), passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her family on January 2, 2026 at the Barrett House in Green Lake.  She was born Janet Mae Remmenga on July 27, 1935 in Minden, Nebraska, the daughter of George and Anna Theresa (Lampman) Remmenga.  Her family moved to Wisconsin in 1937.  She started school at Oak Grove School by Manchester and continued her education in Markesan School.  In 1952 she married Clarence Klapper and they had 8 children together. In 1970 she married Elmer (Bud) Klawitter and they had 2 children together.  They operated Bud and Jan's Bar in Manchester for several years and made many wonderful memories with friends.  Later on she worked at PMI in Markesan for many years.

Her faith was very important to her. It gave her strength for all the challenges of life. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manchester for over 40 years.  She loved to garden, bake, have root beer floats, put puzzles together, and play solitaire. She especially cherished time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  She loved nature and enjoyed God's creation.  She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and watching the deer.  In her younger years, she also enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling up north.  She was a dedicated Badgers and Packers fan.

She is survived by her children Diane (Al) Cluppert, Terry (Pam) Klapper of Markesan, Sue Boelter of Randolph, Cindy Lenz of Fairwater, Rick Klapper of Berlin, Jim (Jenny) Klapper of Hustisford, Michelle Klapper of Oshkosh, Tonya (Tyler) Dibelius of Ripon; daughter-in-law Deborah Klapper of Berlin.  She is further survived by brothers Harold (Cathy) Remmenga of Iowa and Mike (Starla) Remmenga of Nebraska;  brother-in-law Don Wackett of Waupun; sister-in-law Betty Remmenga of Kansas; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Tammy Klawitter, infant son Patrick John and infant grandson Charlie Klapper; son-in-laws Matt Boelter and Bruce Lenz; brothers Ralph (Mary Ann) Remmenga, Gary Remmenga, Larry Remmenga; sisters Pat Borth, Bert (Lavern)Von Loh, Mickey Wackett; and ex-husbands.
