Our dear mother Janet Rupnow sadly passed away on April 9th, 2026, at the age of 86. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. A friend to many, she was a cherished member of the community in Reeseville, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength. She always saw happiness in the little things.
She was born to the late Clarence and Doris (Schoenwetter) Meyer. She grew up around the Beaver Dam area. Growing up, she didn’t have the easiest of life, but she had a happy life filled with wonderful moments with her family. She met the love of her life while she and her sister Ila owned a small diner in Lowell. Together they raised their family of three children outside of Reeseville on the family farm. Her true hobby was collecting pink depression glass. Oh, did she collect it. She had a room dedictated to it that we weren’t allowed in. It was called the ‘off limits’ room. To this day, it still feels weird being in it. Once her kids were old enough, she started working at Brandon Apparel in Columbus. Gone were the days of new clothing and came the days where she could make you something or she would fix what you had.
She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life Harlan, her parents, father and mother-in-law Leonard and Olga Rupnow, siblings and their spouses Ila and Milton Kuenzi, Leonard and Betty Meyer, and Rose Kehl, sister in laws and spouses Alice and William C. Dohmann, Adeline and Herbert Reiher, nieces Tiffany and Stephanie Vaughn, nephew Dustin Vaughn, and nephew Shane Doll.
She leaves behind her children Shannon (Amy) Rupnow, Clayton Rupnow, Elaine (Larry) DeBlare, and stepdaughter Marie (Steve) Rechek. Grandchildren Isabelle Rupnow, Michaela Rupnow, and Scott DeBlare. She also leaves behind her special friend Dann Schultz along with countless friends who felt her warmth and generosity.
Visitation for Janet will take place on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reeseville from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Lowell Cemetery.
