Janice Wendling, age 72 of Beaver Dam, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 25, 2010 at home.
Janice was born on June 24, 1938 to Frederick and Evelyn (nee Andler) Sekel in Columbus, Wisconsin. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Carl Wendling in Las Vegas, Nevada. Janice enjoyed working in the restaurant industry, doing everything from cashiering to waitressing, but her favorite place to be was in the kitchen cooking. She will always be remembered for her famous pineapple torte and delicious cookies. Janice loved her family and even during the time that she lived in Lake Havasu, Arizona, she often traveled back to Wisconsin to take care of her mother. Janice always looked forward to playing cards on Friday nights and spending time with her great-granddaughter, Tori. She liked doing crossword puzzles, collecting angels and sewing.
Janice is survived by her son, Jeff (Cheryl) Cook of Monona; her step-children, Carl (Angie) Wendling, Ronnie (Janet) Wendling and Judy Brashear; her grandson, Brian Cook; her great-granddaughter, Tori Cook; her brothers, Larry (LouAnn) Sekel of Beaver Dam and Gene (Vivian) Sekel of Chicago; and her sister-in-laws, Angie Andler of Beaver Dam, Verna Vuckovic of Beaver Dam and Karen Vruwick of Crandon. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Wendling; and her four brothers, Rodney Andler, Bill, Donald and Allan Sekel.
A Funeral Service for Janice will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd in Beaver Dam with Rev. Mark Jensen officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the funeral home.
