Jeff was born in Beaver Dam on October 3, 1956 to Roy and Daisy (nee Sheeks) Hafenstein. He attended Fox Lake Elementary School and graduated from Waupun High School in 1975. After high school Jeff worked for Koplin Manufacturing and John Bubholz Plumbing. For more than 25 years Jeff was employed by the Fox Lake Wastewater Commission. Jeff was united in marriage to Leann Waterworth on April 10, 2010 at Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church in Randolph. Jeff loved helping people, which was shown by his dedication of 30 years to the Fox Lake Fire Department and E.M.S., in which he was actively serving as Captain. During those years with the department he was also on the Water Barrel Battling team. Jeff was a lifelong member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Fox Lake where he was baptized and confirmed. He was also a member of the Snowblazers Snowmobile Club. In his free time, Jeff enjoyed woodworking and remodeling. He built several houses in his career, including his own. Jeff also enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, volleyball, mowing lawn, plowing snow and playing cards. He loved to spend time with family and friends and his quick witted humor and ability to always get the last word will be deeply missed.

Jeff is survived by the love of his life, Leann of Fox Lake; his children, Jeffery Hafenstein Jr. of Fox Lake, Michelle (Lucas) Schmidt of Fond du Lac, Melissa (Steve Hopp) Hafenstein of Fox Lake, Melinda Hafenstein of Waupun; his step-children, Bruce Waterworth of Randolph, Brandon Waterworth and Mitchell Waterworth, both of Fox Lake; one grandson, Emmett Jeffery Hopp and one step-grandson Brayden Haffele. Jeff is further survived by his mother Daisy Hafenstein of Beaver Dam; sisters, Penny (Richard) Boschaert, Nancy (Charles) Diels and Cindy (David Meier) Hafenstein all of Beaver Dam, aunts uncles, many other relatives and friends.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Roy and a baby brother Greg.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Jeff will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 110 Edgelawn Drive in Fox Lake with Rev. David Nottling officiating. A memorial gathering will also be held on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Service at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the service in the fellowship hall.
