d. January 10, 2012

(1916 - 2012)
Jennie Pluim, 96, of Waupun, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at her home.

Jennie was born Janu. 5, 1916, in the town of Alto, the daughter of Jacob and Gertrude Derksen Van Buren.

On Nov. 17, 1937, she married Wilbert Pluim in Waupun.

Following their marriage the couple resided in the Waupun area where they farmed most of their married lives.

Jennie attended Truth Tabernacle in Beaver Dam for many years.

Jennie is survived by her four sons: Kenneth (Ruth) Pluim of Waupun, Larry (Joan) Pluim of Waupun, Calvin (Jeanne) Pluim of Green Lake, and Jerry (Cheryl) Pluim of Waupun; five daughters: Carol (Arnie) Voskuil of Waupun, Sharon (Glen) Loomans of Waupun, Ruth (Jim) DeVries of Wisconsin Dells, Gloria (Wayne) Schwarze of Brillion, and Rose (Mitch) Redeker of Waupun; 17 grandchildren: Mike (Sue) Pluim, Deb Navis, Sue (Mike) Vande Slunt, Jeff (Rhonda) Pluim, Kristin (Greg) Holz, Trudy (Leonard) Frens, Kevin Voskuil, Shane (Tami) DeVries, Justin (Theresa) DeVries, Nate (Sara) DeVries, Stephanie Schwarze, Jennifer (Chris) Nies, Mason Pluim, Branden Pluim, Nicholas (Jennie) Redeker, Ryan (Melissa) Redeker, Chelsea (Mike) Rens, and Hannah Schwarze; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two sisters: Mildred (Alex) Wynstra, and Cora Kwekel, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and a son-in-law, Bud Guenther of Fond du Lac.

Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert, in 2002; a daughter, Joyce Guenther in 2007; a grandson, Scott Pluim; two sisters; and three brothers.

Jennie was a special woman who will be deeply missed by her family and so many others whose lives were touched by her sincere love and generosity. Her love for her Lord and Savior was the bright, shining light that shone through her and her warmth and tenderness was the reason she was called "Mother" and "Grandma Jennie" far beyond her immediate family. She could turn a gray sky to blue by just her smile and she found the good in everyone. Her life was a shining example of turning the other cheek, giving without expecting anything in return, and unconditional love.

She leaves behind a legacy. Her children arise up, and call her blessed. (Proverbs 31:28)

Jennie was also blessed with a wonderful live-in caregiver, for over the last four years that exceeded our expectations with the love that she showed our Mom and the exceptional care she was given. Thank you to Erica and her little son, Tomi. Also, Jennie's family would like to thank the staff at Beaver Dam Home Health Care and Hospice, especially Rita Burmania, for the extra special support and care.
