Obituary
Jerry A. Lieske, age 62 of Markesan, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Berlin Memorial Hospital.
Jerry was born on June 9, 1951 to Julius and Sylvia (nee Laper) Lieske in Beaver Dam. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, where he was an active, lifelong member and served as a head usher and downstairs janitor. Jerry enjoyed attending church, and especially looked forward to the Christmas Season when he helped decorate the Christmas trees and planning the live nativity.
Jerry graduated from Markesan High School in 1969 and completed the UW farm short course. Over the years, he split his time between his own farm, Equity Livestock, Dean Foods, Del Monte, Fridays and PMI. He also enjoyed the time he spent raising sheep and lambs for the fair and raising his own chickens.
On July 30, 1977, Jerry was united in marriage to Arlinda Stoltenburg at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in the Town of Concord. In his free time, he loved being outside and playing cards with friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Arlinda of Markesan; his children, Jeremy (Nichole) Lieske of Markesan, Jason (Amy) Lieske of Beaver Dam, Jeff (Katie Ter Beest) Lieske and Amy (Anthony) Corson, both of Markesan; his grandson, Jace Lieske; and two sisters, Sandra (DuWayne) Jahnke and Karen (Ken) Dahlke, both of Markesan. He is further survived by four aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Amelia, his parents, and other relatives.
A Funeral Service for Jerry will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 Church Street, Fairwater, with Rev. Shari Routh officiating. Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan and also on Monday prior to the service at church, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
