Joan Root

Joan Root, 82, of Waupun passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2024.

Joan was born December 28, 1941 in Springvale, the daughter of George and Florence Priepke Haase. Joan graduated from Brandon High School in 1959. On April 15, 1967 she married Charles Root. They lived in Waupun and were blessed with three children. Joan was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. After the kids grew up she delivered papers for the Fond du Lac Reporter and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. She then worked in the greenhouse at Waupun Florist, and later worked at Gysbers Super Market where she retired. Joan taught 4-yr old Sunday School at Immanuel Lutheran Church for 47 years and loved teaching the kids. She was a cub scout leader for  30+ years and was also involved in youth 4H. Joan loved crafts, puzzles, flowers, and gardening.

Joan is survived by two children: Greg (Kim) Root and Geoffry (Sheri) Root; grandchildren: Thomas Root (special friend, Madalynn), Ryan Root, Michelle Root, Lucas Root, and Ben Root; step-granddaughter, Victoria Krautkramer; great-grandchildren: Aliayah, Bentley, Maeve, and Amara; siblings: Jim Haase and Chuck (Sherry) Haase; nieces and nephews: Tina Haase, Stacy Haase (special friend, Randy), Mike (Angela) Haase, David Wolff, and Gary (Pat) Wolff; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Charles in 2002; daughter, Linda; parents; and siblings: George (Sheila) Haase.

Funeral services for Joan Root will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun. Burial of cremains will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
