Joan was born in Madison, WI. On January 15, 1931 to Ernest and Lucille Ott (Steinhorst). She attended High School at Madison East and Graduated in June of 1949.

Joan was united in Marriage to Daniel Urban at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Madison WI.on June 3rd 1950.

Joan and Dan resided in Madison, WI. until 1970 at which time they moved to Poynette, WI. They resided in Poynette WI. Until 1985. In 1985 Joan and Dan moved to Milwaukee WI. Until the retirement of Dan in 1995. In 1995 they moved to Beaver Dam, WI.

Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Joan enjoyed many things in life. She enjoyed helping others and always had an open door for family or friends in time of need. She enjoyed playing cards and board games, bowling, crocheting, and of course the Packers, Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks. She enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. Her most favorite past time was fishing and spending time with her brother in law and sister in law Bob and Edith Imhoff at their cottage in Packwaukee. Joan enjoyed and was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great grand children. She would introduce you to brag to all of her friends their accomplishments, many times over.

Joan is survived by her 5 children, Dan (Sharon) Urban,Bloomington IN. Lynn (Jim) Lehr Poynette, WI., Scott (Laurie) Urban Beaver Dam, WI. Craig (Kris) Urban DeForest, WI. Luanne (Mark) Hebbe Waukesha, WI. Grandchildren, Troy (Andrea) Lehr, Kory (Kelly) Lehr, Christian (Sarah) Urban, DJ (Courtney) Urban, Dan and Sarah Steiner, Kali Jo and Katie Urban, Alyssa (Tristan) Thede, Stas Urban, Brad Urban, Kyle Simonson, Melia and Eric Hebbe and 11 great grandchildren,Sister in law Phyllis Ott (Hank Dombrowski) and many brother in laws, sister in laws , nieces, nephews and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Jerry Ott, and husband Daniel in 1998.

A Celebration of her life will be held at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam, WI. on Sunday, October 16 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 1-3:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Our final thoughts: Mom, you taught us how to love, respect, have empathy towards others and most of all you taught us we were all important to you! We love and will miss you!
