Lindau
December 3, 1931 – June 20, 2017
Joanne was born on December 3, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Rudolph and Ruby (Knudsen) Runez. She graduated from White Bear Lake High School, Gustavus Adolphus College, and earned a Master's Degree in education at Cal State Fullerton. She was united in marriage to Paul Lindau on June 12, 1954 in White Bear Lake, MN. Teaching became her passion, and she taught 5th and 6th grade for over 30 years. She was also a longtime member of Delta Kappa Gamma. As a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, Joanne was active with the bells, choir, and Ladies Aid, as well as being a part of the Befriender Ministry and attending bible studies. Joanne loved reading, traveling to Germany and enjoyed playing spider solitaire in her free time. Having such a caring, loving heart, Joanne was a wonderful wife, mother, and devoted grandmother.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Rev. Paul Lindau of Beaver Dam; children, Kym Lindau of Oregon, and Sue (Tom "Dusty" Szewczyk) Lindau of Beaver Dam; a beloved grandson, Cody Lindau of Platteville; sister, Bev Carlson of Beaver Dam, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Lindau; and other relatives.
