John A. Cantrell, age 54 of Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
John was born on August 29, 1955 in Minneapolis, MN to Robert and Dorothy (nee Fisher) Cantrell. John was a graduate of North Hennepin Technical College in Anoka, MN. On June 18, 1988 he was united in marriage to Katherine Winn in Beaver Dam. John worked at Burgess-Norton in Beaver Dam as a Senior Design Engineer for almost 25 years. He was also a 25 year member of A.P.M.I. Throughout his working career, John earned numerous awards for Powdered Metallurgy Design Excellence, not only nationally but internationally. John had a great, yet warped sense of humor. He spent a lot of time at their cabin in Northern Minnesota where he loved to fish, four-wheel and spend time outdoors. John was a "closet" cowboy all his life and was loved by everyone.

John is survived by his wife; Katherine "Kate" Cantrell of Beaver Dam, his mother; Dorothy Cantrell, a sister; Rita Cantrell, a niece; Vernita Jones, nephews; Richard Lewis, Kenton Cantrell and his best "gal-pal" Arlene Pattee and family. John is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert Cantrell and a sister Patricia Lewis.

A Memorial Gathering for John will be held on Monday, March 22, 2010 from 4 – 6 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam.
