John "Buck" R. Jones, age 68 of Beaver Dam, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.
John R. Jones was born on February 27, 1942 in St. Louis, MO to John S. and Agnes (nee Acksel) Jones. After graduating from Quincy Sr. High School, he went on to work for E.L. Smith & Sons in Quincy, IL where he worked for 30 years, starting out sweeping floors and eventually becoming an air compressor salesman. On March 10, 1973 he was united in marriage to Penny Rockhold in Memphis, MO. John and Penny relocated to Beaver Dam, WI and in 1990 John began working for Rol-Air in Hustisford. John was a funny, joking man with a huge heart. He loved to tell jokes, play pranks and do anything he could for his family and friends to make them happy. John enjoyed fishing, woodworking, attending the Swan City Car Show and going to Ho Chunk. He was a very caring man and will be deeply missed by his family.
John is survived by his wife, Penny Jones of Beaver Dam; his children, Rebecca (John) Mueller of Oshkosh, Kim Jones of Madison, Tracy Applehans of Colorado, and Donald (Patricia) Jones of Colorado; his grandchildren, Michael Mueller, Madelyn Mueller, Tori Applehans and Trevor Jones; and his sister, Betty Scheiter of Quincy, IL. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
A Visitation for John will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. A Service of Remembrance will take place at 5:30 p.m.
