Obituary

John E. Shattuck, age 48, of Randolph, died unexpectedly as a result of an automobile accident on Friday, July 24, 2009. John was born in San Antonio, TX on March 26, 1961 to Vernon and Betty (nee Doxsee) Shattuck. He graduated from Bushnell Prairie High School in Illinois and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. As a Marine, he went to 52 different countries serving as a tank driver and later as a recruiter. On September 29, 2007, he was united in marriage to Beth Holwerda at Trinity Church-United Methodist in Beaver Dam. John enjoyed working part-time teaching Healthy Back & Joint Effort Swimming Lessons and was the swimming coach for Seadragons's Team, both at the YMCA in Beaver Dam and coaching the Randolph Swimming Pool Sting Ray's Swim Team. He currently worked at Kirsh Foundry in Beaver Dam. John was a member of Trinity Church-United Methodist and the American Legion Post 521 of Fox Lake. He enjoyed golfing in Fox Lake and Beaver Dam, and he loved watching his step-children's sporting events. John was a loving husband and father and will be dearly missed.

John is survived by his wife Beth of Randolph; his son, Christopher Shattuck of Randolph; his daughter, Jordan Hedricks of Vista, CA; his four step-children, Alyse Holwerda of Platteville, WI, Whitney, Jared and Chad Holwerda, all of Randolph; his father, Vernon Shattuck of Friendswood, TX; his grandmother, Ruth Shattuck of Andover, IL; and three sisters, Pamela Sanchez of CA, Cheryl (Thomas) Turner and Kelly Shattuck, both of TX; his father and mother-in-law, Alfred (Winifred) Tillema of Friesland and a brother-in-law, Dale Tillema of Beaver Dam. John is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and a brother-in-law, Andy Sanchez.

A Funeral Service for John will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Trinity Church-United Methodist , 308 Oneida Street , Beaver Dam at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Nicholas officiating. Visitation for John will take place on Tuesday, July 28, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the church and also on Wednesday, July 29, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam with graveside military rites provided by Fox Lake American Legion Post 521. A luncheon will follow at the church.
