John
Faeh
July 27, 1923 – January 21, 2011
John was born on July 27, 1923 in Reeseville, WI to Alois and Anna (nee Fourer) Faeh. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was extremely proud to be part of the Greatest Generation. He was united in marriage to Marie Werner on August 4, 1945 in Horicon. Following her death in 1984, he was married to Vianna Kiser. John was a licensed cheesemaker his entire life. He carried one of the earliest cheesemaker licenses' in the state of Wisconsin and was very dedicated to Grande Cheese.
John thought the world of his family and enjoyed spending time with them more than anything. He also would travel to see his family in Mississippi. In his free time, he liked playing cards, especially sheepshead, and going out to eat for a good Friday night Fish Fry. John was a member of St. Malachy's (now known as Sacred Heart Parish) Catholic Church in Horicon, St. Jerome's Catholic Church in Columbus and the Columbus Senior Center. For over 60 years, John was a member of the Horicon American Legion Post 157 and Horicon VFW Post 8057, before joining the Columbus American Legion Post 62 for the past seven years.
John is survived by his daughter, Mary (Robert) Link of Columbus; three grandchildren, John (Andrea) Link of Columbus, Jamie (Jon) Klein of St. Louis, MO and Tom (Kim) Link of Florida; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Brady and Tyler Link, all of Columbus; his siblings, Pauline Lacoste of Mississippi, Hattie (Paul) Bakula of West Allis, Rosie (Clayt) Fisher of Fond du Lac, and Jerry (Pam) Faeh of Eden, WI; and two step-children, Sue (Chuck) Marks of Horicon, and Dan (Linda) Beske of West Bend. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Rosemary in 1978; his first wife, Marie in 1984; his second wife, Vianna in 1997 and his brother-in-law, Wallace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, 1550 Farnham St. in Columbus with Father Steve Kortendick as celebrant. Visitation will take place prior to the Mass at the church, beginning at 9:30 a.m. A luncheon will be served immediately following the Mass at the church. Burial will be at St. Malachy's Cemetery in Horicon, with graveside military rites provided by Horicon Legion Post 157.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hillside Hospice, especially Kathy Clements, Kathy Bronner, and Patti DeVries, Golden Living Center and the Larsen House in Columbus for the loving care that John received.
