Obituary

John Joseph Burk, Sr. died Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the age of 84. He died at home with his loving family by his side.

Visitation for John will take place on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Holy Family Parish, 41 St. Joseph St., Markesan, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Mark Miller as celebrant. Burial will take place at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake.

John was born on December 14, 1936 to Dennis and Catherine (Leahy) Burk at Columbus Hospital. He lived all his life in the Markesan area. He worked at a creamery in Green Lake, Feed Mill & Rivet Factory in Markesan, worked for several farms in the area, the local grocery store and PMI in Markesan. He was married to Sharon Trochinski on June 3, 1967 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Berlin. John enjoyed everything to do with outdoor activities. He loved horses, feeding the birds, and keeping up his yard. He took great pride in his rose bushes and geraniums. He loved being surrounded by family and friends, laughing, joking and telling many, many stories. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.

John leaves behind his loving wife, Sharon of almost 54 years; his children, Janet (Russ) Rupp of Waupun, Denise (Tom) Hepler of Cambria, Linda (Richard) Moldenhauer of Markesan, John Jr. (Michelle) of Miles City, MT, Tim (Cassie) of Markesan, Cathie (Scott) Frank of Janesville, Matt (Rowan) of Princeton, Stephanie Burk of Markesan, Rebecca (Shawn) Bolgrien of Pardeeville, and Dennis (Emily) of Berlin; his 21 grandchildren, Nikki (Brent) Evans, Mick (Amber) Kiehl, Jesse Kiehl, Kelsey (Hunter) Frank, Dustin Burk, Royce Hepler, Lauren Moldenhauer, Troy Burk, Tyler Burk, Jordan Burk, Mackenzie Burk, Isabelle Burk, Braden Burk, Alexis Frank, Andrew Frank, Dylan Burk, Jozelyn Burk, Austin Davis, Hillary Davis, Mason Bolgrien, Mya Bolgrien;  7 great-grandchildren, Bailey Evans, Patrick Evans, Gavin Evans, Liam Burk, Aria Burk, Alyvia Burk, and Huxley Frank; one brother, Dennis (Rosemarie) Burk of Mequon; sister, Mary Campion of Montello;  sisters-in-law, Carol Burk of Markesan and Regina Burk of Waupun; and many more family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Teresa; parents, Dennis and Catherine Burk; mother- and father-in-law, Carl and Marcella Trochinski; brothers, Terry Burk, Pat (Beatrice) Burk, Maurice Burk, William (Bonnie) Burk; sisters, Monica (Jack) Curtis, Katherine (David) Williams, Delores (Al) Lynch and Agnes (Clarence) Resop; sister-in-law, Gail Trochinski; brothers-in-law, Larry Hershberger and Kelly Campion; and other relatives.
