John Jason Militzer, age 85 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

A memorial gathering for John will take place on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kirk Militzer officiating. Refreshments will be served during the memorial gathering. A private family Inurnment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, Town of Trenton.

John was born in Reeseville on May 3, 1938, the son of Herbert M. and Frances A. (nee Daniels) Militzer. He was a graduate of Waterloo High School before serving his country in the Air Force. While in the Air Force, John was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska and he grew to love the state. He was united in marriage to Barbara J. Hein on July 18, 1964, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. John worked in the banking industry for fifty years at the American Bank of Beaver Dam as a Teller, Loan Officer, and Vice President before retirement, then served on the Board of Directors. John was an avid Lionel train collector and a proud member of the L.C.C.A. (Lionel Collectors Club of America). He enjoyed attending train collector conventions and expos throughout the country, often planning family vacations around them. John was also a dedicated member of the Elks and Lions Clubs.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; sons, Patrick J. & Janine (nee Sorgatz) Militzer, Cory J. & Jill (nee Zaremba) Militzer; granddaughter, Chloe R. Militzer; brother-in-law, Harlan W. (Caroline) Hein Jr.; nephews, Kent Militzer, Kirk Militzer, Travis Hein, Benjamin (Katie) Hein; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert M. and Frances A. (nee Daniels) Militzer; stepmother, Madelyn "Lee" R. (nee Valaskey) Militzer; brother, Daniel & Theresa (nee Timian) Militzer; and other relatives.
