John Anthony Koenig, 77, of Beaver Dam, WI, passed away at home on October 20, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Born August 19, 1949, in Sheboygan, WI, he was the third of eight children born to Roman and Theresa (Federer) Koenig.
John (aka Jack or Jackie) shared many stories of growing up on a farm with his seven siblings. He enjoyed spending evenings singing with his brothers and sisters while his dad played the guitar and his mother the piano.
He was a 1967 graduate of Kiel High School where he met his future wife of 57 years, Sandra Kienbaum. They married on September 6, 1969. He graduated from UW-Madison after taking courses in both agriculture and finance. He combined these two passions into a life-long job as an advisor and tax preparer for farmers in the Dodge County and surrounding areas at PCA and Farm Credit Services. He valued the many personal relationships he built with the farmers and families he served over the years.
John loved watching his children and grandchildren play various sports. He spent countless hours watching cross country, track, soccer, football, basketball and baseball games. No amount of cold or rain could keep him away, and he never met a concession stand hamburger he didn’t enjoy.
In addition to his devotion to family, John built his life around faith and service. He served in a variety of roles at both St. Katharine Drexel and St. Vincent de Paul, putting his faith into action through service to his church and community.
John is survived by his wife, Sandy; his children, Becky (Paul) Scozzafave, Tracy (Todd) Ferron, CJ (Kristy) Koenig, and Nick Koenig; and his grandchildren, Kennedy (Rob) Duax, Grant (Emily) Roloff, Cade (Jillian) Ferron, Grace Roloff, Connor Roloff, Carter Koenig, Brennan Koenig, and Aaron Koenig. He is also survived by his siblings, nieces, nephews, and many other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Theresa Koenig; his brother, William Koenig; his parents-in-law, Jerome and Pearl Kienbaum; and his sisters-in-law, Janice Anhalt and Carol Koenig.
Visitation for John will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at St. Katharine Drexel Church in Beaver Dam from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m with Fr. Thomas Naidu as celebrant. Burial will take place at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Kiel.
Special thanks to all of the staff at UW Carbone Cancer Center and SSM Hospice for their amazing care and support over the last year.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Katharine Drexel or St. Vincent de Paul Society of Dodge County.
John always enjoyed watching the Brewers and Packers with his family. In his final days, he cheered on the Brewers during their run to the World Series.
