John was born on May 4, 1931 to Thomas and Agnes (Burk) Leahy. He grew up on the family farm and "picked a lot of stones," throughout his farming days. As a child, he enjoyed an ice cream cone and watching summer movies in the park on a big screen. He proudly served our country in the United States Army.
John very much enjoyed playing Euchre and the many, many card games. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed visiting with anyone he would meet. He always enjoyed children and his family and the many family traditions at Holiday meals and gatherings. He spent a lot of time with his nieces and nephews taking them bowling on Saturday nights. He was very involved with serving in his church and taking communion to those at the nursing home until he was no longer able to do so.
John is survived by his sisters: Mary Kearns and Mary Campion; sister-in-law, Joan Leahy, and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Agnes; brother-in-law, Kelly Campion; sister and brother-in-law, Anna (Dan) Cotter; brothers, James Leahy and Maurice Burk; and brother-in-law, Maurice Kearns.
Memorials in John's name may be directed to Holy Family Catholic Church.
