John P. Scheier, age 63 of Marquette, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

Visitation for John will be held on Monday, February 4, 2019 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Manchester from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Plagenz officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Grand View Cemetery, Marquette.

John was born on October 5, 1955 in Beaver Dam, the son of Lavern and Donna (Schwark) Scheier. He graduated from Markesan High School in 1974. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Pollesch on May 6, 1978 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan. John worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years. In addition to being a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marquette, as an avid outdoor sportsman, John was also a member of the Puckaway Rod & Gun Club and the Grand Marsh Turkey Club. He enjoyed shooting pool with a local men's pool league and was a proud supporter of the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks. His two grandsons were his pride and joy, and John cherished all of the time he spent with them.

John will be dearly missed by his wife, Kathy of Marquette; his son, Mitch (Cathy) Scheier and grandsons, Rhys and Evan, all of Ripon; mother, Donna Scheier of Dalton; brothers, Ronald of North Carolina, Tom (Kathy) of Dalton and Andy (Denise) of Marquette; sisters, Cindy (Randy) Galow of Berlin and Debbie (Jim) Palmer of Mayville; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his father; son, Matthew; brother, Brian; sister, Bonnie and other relatives.
