Jon S. Laper, age 64 of Markesan, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 17, 2018.

Visitation for Jon will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 Church St., Fairwater from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sam Hamilton-Poore officiating. Burial will take place at Fairwater Cemetery.

Jon was born on October 4, 1954, and shortly thereafter he was adopted by John and Lorraine (Zimdars) Laper. He graduated from Markesan High School in 1973. He was on the school board there for over 10 years and recently retired from the Landmark Board of Directors. Previously, he was also on the Grand River Co-op Board of Directors. A lifelong farmer, he enjoyed collecting antique tractors and loved his dogs. Jon often brought in young kids from the community to teach them new life skills on the farm, and he was very proud of them. He was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater.

Jon is survived by his brother, Randy (Judy) Laper of Markesan; and further survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and other relatives.
