Joy Mengel, age 75 of Wautoma and formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 12, 2012 after an 11 month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Joy was born in the Town of Chester, Atwater, WI on February 28, 1937 to Clyde and Margaret (nee Schellpfeffer) Dickinson. She attended Burnett grade school and graduated from Horicon High School in 1954. Joy worked for Kiekhaefer Corp., Brandt Automatic Cashier and later at John Deere Horicon Works, retiring in 1992 after 22 1/2 years as a production scheduler. After her retirement from John Deere, she took care of her grandchildren daily and continued to take care for Jonathon until she no longer was able. Joy later managed South Hills Trailer Park in Beaver Dam until she moved to Wautoma in 2008.
Joy enjoyed traveling and visited Alaska, Italy, Greece, Nova Scotia and various places in the United States. Her greatest joy was her family and the birth of her great-grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye.
Joy is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Gary Roecker) Knox of Wautoma, Kelly (Brent) Kittleson of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Jamie (Andrew Stock) Indermuehle, Jonathan Knox, Kayla (Chris Neuman) Kittleson, Collin Kittleson and her great-grandchildren, Mylee and Brennan Stock and Talyn Neuman. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Margaret, her sister Ruth and her brother Victor, along with other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service for Joy will take place on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, N8523 Front St. in Burnett, WI with Rev. Steve Thomas officiating. Visitation will also be on Thursday at the Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Stone Cemetery in the Town of Burnett and a luncheon will follow at the Church.
