Joyce M. Brown

Joyce M. Brown, age 86, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

Joyce was born on September 23, 1939, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Jasper and Audrey (Dent) McKethen. She attended Topeka schools and graduated from Topeka High School in 1957. On December 15, 1957, Joyce was united in marriage to her husband, William C. Brown, in Topeka, Kansas. The couple later moved to La Farge, Wisconsin, where they farmed for several years. During that time, Joyce attended Vernon County Normal College and received her two-year teaching degree. They later moved to Waupun, where Joyce worked in the cafeteria for the Waupun School District for many years. She was a member of Waupun United Methodist Church, where she served on various committees and helped with Ladies Aid, working lunches and doing various kitchen work. She enjoyed getting together and spending time with other church women. Joyce also loved spending time with her family. She liked taking trips to the Amish, drives with her husband to the marsh, and loved watching the Jayhawks, especially basketball.

Joyce is survived by her husband, William C. Brown; her children, Joel D. (Andrea) Brown and Janna (Greg Gloudeman) Pfalzgraf; her grandchildren, Taylor (Colin) DeBoer, Nathan (Samantha Hamm) Brown, Jarid (Mayzi Garcia) Pfalzgraf, and Julia Pfalzgraf; her sister-in-law, Beverly (Harold) Green; her brothers-in-law, Donald Brown and John (Mary) Brown; and further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Hazel Castleman; her brothers, Bob Robison and Jim McKethen; sister-in-law, Agnes Brown; and other relatives.

In honoring Joyce’s wishes, private family services will be held.
