Juanita Jane (Atkinson) Graff, age 83 of Dalton, entered eternal life on October 1, 2018, surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Visitation for Juanita will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church, N796 Linden St., Dalton from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. John Hildebrant officiating. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, town of Kingston.
Juanita was born at home in Portage, WI on April 11, 1935 to Raymond and Lillian (Nehls) Atkinson. She was baptized on May 23, 1935 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage. She was confirmed on May 16, 1948 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Pardeeville. She lived her childhood on a farm in rural Portage as the oldest of 7 children. She graduated from Pardeeville High School in 1953, and Evangelical Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, Milwaukee in January 1956 as a Registered Nurse. She started her career at Beaver Dam Hospital and then worked at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, for 42 years.
Juanita was united in marriage to Alfred A. Graff on April 28, 1957 at St. John's, Pardeeville. They lived their entire married life on the family farm in rural Dalton where they raised 5 children. Her home was always open to family, friends and relatives. Juanita and Alfred enjoyed traveling West with a van full of new explorers. Juanita's greatest love was raising her Christian family.
Survivors include her children, Teresa (Daniel) Trotz, Nancy (Allan) Hoffmann, Barbara (Jeffrey) Lang, Lawrence Graff and Douglas Graff; grandchildren, Andrea (Caleb) Opalewski, Andrew Trotz, Adam (Heather) Trotz, Dustin (Brooke) Hoffmann, Megan Hoffmann, Lauren (Gerald) Chatman, Anna Mae (Zane) Rosencranz, Chance Lang, Levi Lang, Jade Lang, Zackary (Elizabeth) Graff, Gunner Graff and Gus Graff; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Emmy Opalewski, Austin, Ashtin and Addy Trotz, Fletcher, Ryker and Decker Hoffmann, and Kinley Chatman; sisters, Wanda Atkinson, Pat Tamminga, Sally (Hayden) Jerome, Susan (Gerald) Kieck, and Linda (Larry) Rhode; sister-in-law Dorothy Dickerson; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred; infant daughter, Anita; infant brother, Larry Atkinson; parents, Raymond and Lillian Atkinson; in-laws, Adolph and Anna Mae Graff; brothers-in-law, James Dickerson and Ronald Tamminga.
Memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Dalton, Alzheimer's research or charity, or the charity of your choice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Anna's House for their loving care shown to Juanita over the past three years.
