Obituary
Karen V. King, age 70 of Beaver Dam, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Karen was born in Hartford, WI on July 13, 1940, the daughter of Earl and Viola (nee Dallman) Lohr. Karen moved to a farm between Juneau and Horicon in 1945 and attended Juneau School thru 9th grade, before graduating from Horicon High School in 1958. On July 11, 1959 she was united in marriage to Paul King at Juneau United Methodist Church and together they moved to Milwaukee, where they lived for eight years. They settled in Beaver Dam in 1967, where they raised their three children. Throughout her life, Karen worked at Ideals Publishing in Elm Grove; Weyenburg Shoe Factory; Specialties, Inc.; Shopko; Wisconsin Cheeseman in Sun Prairie; and Zion United Methodist Church in Beaver Dam, as the church secretary. In her free time, she enjoyed driving van as a volunteer at the Beaver Dam Senior Center. Karen was a member of Fall River United Methodist Church.
Karen is survived by her husband, Paul of Beaver Dam; her three children, Jeff (Didi) King of Oregon, WI, Michael (Ann Marie) King of Sheboygan and Lisa (Theodore Bendler) King of Fall River; her five grandchildren, Peter and Solomon Bendler, Cassandra, Sydney and Jackson King; her sister, Marilyn Albright of Beatrice, NE; her brother, Rev. Hilbert (Jeanine) Lohr of Stoughton; and her mother-in-law, Dorothy King of Randolph. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Service for Karen will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd in Beaver Dam at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Hull and Rev. Hilbert Lohr officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Fall River United Methodist Church, PO Box 31, Fall River, WI 53932.
