Keith L. Hutzler

September 4, 1935 — May 30, 2026

Keith Lavern Hutzler passed away at home in rural Cambria, Wisconsin on May 30, 2026 after a short illness.

Keith was born in Portage, Wisconsin September 4, 1935, the son of Lyal and Dorothy (Ingram) Hutzler. Keith met the love of his life, Phyllis Hughes, while working at the canning factory in Cambria. Keith and Phyllis married February 12, 1955 and enjoyed 71 years of marriage.

Keith was an electrician, a member of IBEW since 1967. He started with Cuff & McMahon followed by Vans Electric. He worked for Krantz Electric for the last 14 years of his career.

Keith worked hard and he played hard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and talking to people, especially his Saturday morning conversations with Larry at the recycle center, and tractor rides with Nate and Scott. Keith was an enthusiastic story teller who could talk to almost anyone, making new friends wherever he went. In his younger days he attended horse shows, competing in barrel and flag races. Later he bought an airplane and learned to fly. From stock car racing to snowmobiling, he was always open to trying new things.

Keith stayed young at heart as he spent time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved sharing his stories, watching them grow and attending as many sporting and school events as he could. He cherished them, supported them and was very proud of each of them.

Keith is survived by his wife, Phyllis, his sons Jerome (Ellen) Hutzler, Timothy (Deborah) Hutzler, brothers Neil (Jean) Hutzler, Bruce (Kim) Hutzler and sister Joyce (James) Moore, brother-in-law Marvin Hughes and sister-in-law Mary (Bob) Lenz. He was preceded in death by brothers Virgil and Kermit Hutzler.

Keith will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Amber (Nate) Braaksma, Logan Hutzler, Dakota Hutzler, Jordyn Hutzler, Adeline (Ethan) DuPrey, Rachel Labrenz, Cassie Hutzler, Aaron Hutzler, and by his great grandchildren Rylie Nighbor, Kash Nighbor, Kaden Nighbor, Monroe Braaksma, Jordan Labrenz, Megan Labrenz and Collins Hutzler.

Keith was a man of faith with unlimited love for Phyllis and his family. He often talked about how lucky and blessed he was to have lived the life he had. We were lucky and blessed to have had Keith in our lives.

A memorial gathering for Keith will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church in Cambria from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m.
