Kenneth L. Ter Beest, 80, of Alto, died Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.




Ken was born January 28, 1934 in the town of Alto, the son of Theodore and Hattie Schouten Ter Beest. From 1953-1955 Ken served two years with the U.S. Army with one year spent in Germany. On June 7, 1957 Ken married Darlene DeYoung in Randolph. The couple resided in Alto all their married lives. Ken drove truck for Kastein’s Hatchery, worked at Farmers Elevator, worked as a carpenter, and he and Darlene owned and operated the Alto Roller Rink of which they enjoyed for 20 years. Ken was a member of Alto Reformed Church, town of Alto Constable, and was a member of the Alto Fire Department for several years. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and playing cards.

Ken is survived by his wife of 57 years, Darlene Ter Beest of Alto; two daughters: Karen (Larry) Hopp of rural Waupun and Julie Bartz of Ripon; three grandchildren: Michael Hopp, Krista (Brian) Frye and Ashley (Brenten) Nummerdor; a great-granddaughter, Lila Frye; two sisters: Helen Vande Zande of Waupun and Junice (Albertus) Vande Zande of Waupun; sisters-in-law: Eleanor Ter Beest and Pat Ter Beest; brother-in-law, David Schouten; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers: Edward, Melvin, Gordon, Harold, Leonard, Earl, and Donald Ter Beest; two sisters: Dorothy Daane and Arlene Schouten.





Visitation:


Friends and relatives of Ken Ter Beest may call on the family on Sunday at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4:30 – 7 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.



Services:


Funeral services for Kenneth Ter Beest will be held Monday, January 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Alto Reformed Church with Rev. Ted Medema and Rev. Ted Lindman officiating.



Burial:


Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery where Amercian Legion Post 210 of Waupun is providing military honors.
