Obituary

Kenneth "Kenny" M. Sletten, age 68 of Kingston, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, October 9, 2016.

Visitation for Kenny will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Friday, prior to the service at church, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

A funeral service for Kenny will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, 316 Vine St., Kingston with Rev. Frank Rose officiating. Burial will take place at Salemville Cemetery, followed by a luncheon back at church.

Kenny was born on June 26, 1948 in Hillsboro, WI, the son of Lorna (Triebs) and Merle Sletten. He graduated from Royall High School in Elroy, WI, where he excelled in athletics, playing baseball, basketball and football. During the Vietnam War, Kenny proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He earned a bachelor's degree from UW-La Crosse. On July 13, 1974, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Spies in Glenview, IL.

Kenny was a devout Christian and loved studying and reading the Bible, even handwriting it word for word twice. He was an active member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Kingston, where he enjoyed teaching Bible classes. He was a generous man and loved giving of his time and talents to help others. He enjoyed hunting with his son, Paul, watching sports and traveling. He was a member of the Kingston American Legion Post. He had a great sense of humor, and his wonderful personality and light-hearted demeanor will be greatly missed.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Kingston; his son, Paul (Sarah) of Montello; his siblings, Ronald (Sherry) of Oklahoma, Connie (Ron) Reed of Florida and Pat (Roberta) Webster of Rio; his step-siblings, Dennis (Terri) Webster, Mike (Karen) Webster, Donna Vieth and Monica Webster; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father and other relatives.
