Kevin Harmsen, age 59 of Waupun, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
Kevin was born in Waupun on November 8, 1966, the son of Kenneth C. and Sharon (Soodsma) Harmsen. He was a 1985 graduate of Waupun High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from 1985–1988, cherishing the opportunity to travel around the world. On December 13, 2014, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carol Jean Newlin. Kevin worked various jobs throughout his life, but he enjoyed it most at Carrico Aquatics as a UV Service Technician.
Kevin enjoyed working with his hands and staying busy doing projects. He loved going up north to the family cabin, where he enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family. He especially enjoyed fishing and spending time on the river. Kevin had a special connection with his grandchildren and loved teaching them new things and telling the kids all the stories from his travels. Kevin was very proud of all of his kids and grandkids. He was kind and fun loving and very patriotic. He was also fond of his dogs, Leni Lou and Izzy Sunshine.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Carol; his children, Taylor Harmsen and Allayna (significant other, Gabe Santoya) Newlin; his grandchildren, Eli Harmsen, Romeo Santoya, Aubrey Newlin, and AJ Santoya; his father, Ken Harmsen; his siblings, Julie Connelly, Dawn Harmsen, and Kurt Harmsen; his in-laws, Rodney (Ellen) Newlin, Vickie (Mark) Lison, Donna (Tim) Hilbert, and Christine Koplin; and further survived by nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Harmsen; child, Tritt Harmsen; beloved dog, Pepper; and other relatives.
A memorial gathering for Kevin will take place on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Werner Harmsen Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Military honors will be provided by the Waupun American Legion Post 210 at the funeral home at 3:30 p.m.
