Kimble "Kay" P. Killam, 73, of Markesan, died on Wednesday evening, Oct. 26, 2011, at the Markesan Resident Home.
Kay was born July 27, 1938, in Waupun, the son of Donald and Henrietta Vande Streek Killam.
On July 1, 1961, he married Carol Veenendaal in Markesan.
Kay was a veteran of the U.S. Army. While stationed in Germany, Carol was able to live with him there for a year as he served our country.
Kay was employed at Alto Co-op Creamery. Later he worked as a hired-hand for Charlie Glewen. In 1967, Kay and Carol started up their own dairy farm. In 1995, Kay retired from farming.
Following retirement, he fed veal calves for the Gunnink Veal Farm and he drove tractor for various farmers.
Kay was a member of Wisconsin Farm Team Horse Pullers. He was also a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon.
Kay loved his family, horses, horse pulling, and taking rides to the Amish community. He enjoyed the outdoors and being on the land.
Kay is survived by his wife, Carol Killam of Markesan; four sons, Dennis (Linda) Killam of Brandon, Duane (Sheila) Killam of Brandon, Kevin Killam of Baraboo, and Jeff (Jen) Killam of Markesan; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Arlene (Wallace) Vande Berg of Brandon; two brothers, Glenn (Judy) Killam of Markesan, and David Killam of Markesan; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris and Al Harmsen of Waupun; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two nieces, Lori Killam and Colleen Harmsen; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Arlene and Jim Sanders; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arnold and Gladys Veenendaal.
Services:
Funeral services for Kay Killam will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon. The Rev. John Tilstra will officiate.
Burial will follow at Mackford Union Cemetery in the town of Mackford.
American Legion Post 210 of Waupun will provide military honors at the cemetery.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives of Kay Killam may call on the family on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun.
Visitation will continue on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 10:30 a.m. funeral service.
