Laurene Rens, 97, of Waupun, died Monday, December 29, 2014 at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Waupun where she resided the past two years.




Laurene was born January 12, 1917 in the town of Trenton the daughter of John and Hattie Vande Zande Bresser. On September 27, 1939 she married Milton Rens in Waupun. Following their marriage the couple farmed in the Rosendale area and then moved to their farm on Savage Road in the town of Waupun in 1945. Laurene was a cook and baker at Hopp’s Restaurant in Waupun for 30 years and then worked a couple of years at the Well Kum Inn. She also made pies for Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac. Laurene was a charter member of Trinity Reformed Church in Waupun where she was an active member. She enjoyed playing cards and getting together with her relatives and friends. She also enjoyed her flower gardens.

Laurene is survived by a son, Arlyn (Lonna) Rens of rural Brandon; three grandchildren: Tammy Jones of Green Bay, Tammy (Jerry) Pattee of rural Brandon, and Michael (Kristin) Rens of Brooklyn, NY; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores Rens of rural Waupun; a sister-in-law, Donna Vande Zande of Waupun; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Rens; a son, Calvin Rens; a grandson, Kevin Rens, a brother, Russell Bresser; a great-grandchild, Brea McDowell; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.





Visitation:


Friends and relatives of Laurene Rens may call on the family on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.



Services:


Funeral services for Laurene Rens will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. John White officiating.



Burial:


Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.
