Lavern "Charlie" L. Lohrey, age 84, of Markesan, passed away peacefully at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah on Thursday, May 28, 2015 with his family by his side.
He was born June 1, 1930 in Green Lake County, the son of Edwin and Esther (nee Hinz) Lohrey. Charlie was a graduate of Markesan High School. On May 18, 1952, he was united in marriage to Loraine Prochnow at St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan.
Charlie was a dairy farmer for many years and also did seasonal trucking with the local canneries. His hobbies and enjoyment in the life were bowling, traveling, playing cards at Stubby's, roadtrips to any casino he could get to and the love of being with his family and friends. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Loraine; his four daughters of the Markesan area, Linda (Dennis) Triemstra; Luann (Jeff) Keel; Lenita (James) Hein; Lisa (Mark) Broder; 10 grandchildren, Kelly Triemstra, Mark Triemstra, Jodi (Todd) Thiem, Jason (Andrea) Keel, Bill (Stacey) Hein, Kirsten Hein, Emily Hein (friend Andy Bethke), Jared (Tiffany) Broder, Nathan Broder, Jillian Broder (fiancé Derek Chitwood), 7 great grandchildren, Jackson, Tyson, Reece and Hanna Keel, Keegan and Austin Thiem and Ava Broder, 2 step-great-grandchildren, Megan and Hannah Kwiesielewicz; his only brother, DuWayne (Sally) Lohrey; sister-in-law Helene Prochnow; brother-in-law Lorenz Prochnow (friend Sue Abendroth); brother-in-law Milton (Marion) Prochnow; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Edward and Lillie Prochnow, brother-in-law, Milon Prochnow and sister-in-law, Naomi Prochnow.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family and pay their respects to Charlie on Sunday, May 31, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan. A funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church of Markesan on Monday, June 1, 2015 with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jason Jobs officiating. Burial will follow in the Markesan Cemetery.
