Lawrence D. Wellhouse, 85, of Fairwater, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at home, surrounded by his family.

Larry was born April 21, 1938, the son of George and Ally (Anna) Wellhouse. He attended Brandon school (K-8th grade) and then got a job on the railroad. Larry then later joined the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and Mexico for 3 years. Once he returned home he continued his work on the railroad.

In 1960 Larry met the love of his life of 57 years, Janice Westhuis, at the roller rink, Skateland in Fond du Lac. They were married April 2, 1966 at Bethel Reformed Church. The couple resided in their home in Fairwater their entire married lives. Larry and Janice welcomed their first son, Doug, in 1968. Then 2 years later they welcomed their youngest son, Tim. Larry was a treasured member of his community. Larry worked at first in production then as an assembler with Speed Queen for 40+ years. Larry was a part of several organizations, including 37 years of service with the Brandon-Fairwater Fire Department. Larry loved racing, and to go out to the races with his wife and sons. He was a hobbyist welder and a member of the snowmobilers club, the Brandon Snow Cubs, for 50+years!

Larry and Janice were avid campers, finding every excuse to hook up the camper and escape to the campground with their friends.

Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice; his children: Doug Wellhouse and Tim Wellhouse; four grandchildren: JoBeth Wellhouse, Janessa (Kyle) Leusink, Jacinda (Austin) Trauernicht, and Ethan Wellhouse; nine great-grandchildren; Eren, Sydney, Ally, Parker, Miles, Phil, Lilly Leusink, Oliva Trauernicht, and Christina Pemberton; a brother-in-law, Butch (Luann) Westhuis; sisters-in-law: Ann Sang, Betty Domke, and Teri (Rick) Shady; and many nieces and nephews.
